In this high profile role your mission will be to help shape and execute on Billboard's editorial strategies across all products and platforms. Manage the day-to-day editorial operations of the editorial staff.
Provide leadership and development opportunities for the editorial staff. Represent Billboard in the marketplace. Provide leadership and programming guidance for our conference and events. Uphold the highest possible editorial standards and edit and occasionally report important news stories, features and online content.
Core Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day editorial operations of the B2B editorial staff.
- Manage and develop writing staff, including offering regular feedback to help them improve reporting, writing, and development of leadership skills.
- Supervise the weekly magazine's production cycle and approve final pages of weekly magazine.
- Supervise Billboard.biz and B2B digital newsletters.
- Work with the Editorial Director to develop and execute editorial strategy for all B2B publications, products and events.
- Develop ideas for and work to create new products and other opportunities for the growth of business.
- Represent the Billboard brand for media opportunities, as well as at industry and social functions.
- Ensure that Billboard's editorial standards are upheld.
- Partner with conference/events and editorial teams to develop conference ideas and identify speakers
- Spearhead Magazine's and website's entry into and involvement with awards programs.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level entertainment industry sources.

Requirements |
Key Skills/Competencies
- Must have strong familiarity with digital media and trends in delivering journalistic and data-driven data online.
- Must have strong leadership and management skills.
- Must have strong experience in editing trend, news analysis and feature stories, as well as business reporting.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work with tight schedules required.
- Ability to make and maintain strong contacts in the entertainment and music business
- Must be highly detail oriented & organized.
- Must have solid experience in producing online editorial content and packages.
- Competency with editorial software, including Quark Publishing System and Microsoft Word. - Knowledge of web production.
Pre-requisites
- A minimum of 7-10 years editing and reporting experience, preferably with a daily, weekly or web publication, or wire service.
- Management experience a must.
- Experience directing online content a must.
- Knowledge of popular music and the music industry, across a variety of genres and platforms a strong plus.
- Required: experience with web publishing and blogs
- Strong contacts in the entertainment and music business
- Undergraduate degree required in Journalism, English or a related field.
