Director of Communications & Media Relations

More than 17 million people have used One Economy's online tools and resources to build better lives, including the Public Internet Channel, an online network of public-purpose mediaprogramming that engages, informs and inspires action. Launched in 2006 by honorary co-chairs now-President Barack Obama and Senator John McCain, the Public Internet Channel features fiction and non-fiction programming that addresses topics such as health, money, and sustainable living. Responsibilities and Oversight:
We seek a 'hands on' professional to oversee and execute on all aspects of communications and media relations efforts. This position is responsible for ensuring that all One Economy communications are accurate, timely, on message and in accordance with One Economy's brand. The individual will coordinate and implement strategic communications to maximize One Economy's ability to effectively inform external and internal stakeholders about online and off-line news, resources, programs and services.

The strategic responsibilities will be:

*Maintain and build relationships with key local and national media outlets, including reporters, bookers, editors, producers and online media.
*Develop and implement protocol for media outreach and media requests.
*Identify and track publicity opportunities for CEO and other senior staff including speaking engagements, strategic partnerships and events.
*Plan, research and write news releases and media kits, and update library of media tools.
*Serve as editor and project manager for corporate website.
*Manage media and stakeholder database and lists.
*Execute and oversee press events and other high-profile events in coordination with senior staff.
*Coordinate regular communication and maintain messaging with internal web editors, content producers and video producers.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years experience managing communications, press and media relations, marketing initiatives or other relevant activities.

Additional requirements include:

*Bachelor's degree or higher in related discipline.
*Ability to develop and implement an organization-wide integrated communications strategy.
*Superb writing, speaking and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate with poise to a wide variety of audiences.
*Strong knowledge of various communications outlets and experience with new media.
*Proven ability to leverage technology to strengthen communications outreach.
*Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
*High comfort level with a collaborative work process and collegial working environment.
*Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite .
*Prior Capitol Hill or political experience, and/or knowledge of international media with an emphasis on Africa and the Middle East a plus.
